Pakistani PM receives key security update as border tensions with India escalate

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a high-level delegation, visited the headquarters of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to receive an in-depth briefing on the prevailing security environment, particularly regarding the escalating tensions along the eastern border with India.

The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and the chiefs of Pakistan's armed forces, Caliber.Az reports citing Pakistani media.

The briefing covered a wide range of pressing national security issues, with a focus on the current geopolitical landscape, emerging threats, and Pakistan's strategic responses.

Key areas of discussion included traditional military threats, evolving hybrid warfare tactics, and the increasing threat posed by terrorist proxies operating in the region. The leadership was also apprised of India’s increasingly aggressive and provocative actions along Pakistan’s eastern frontier, which have raised concerns over regional stability.

A comprehensive review of India's posture and the recent provocative actions, particularly in the wake of the Pahalgam False Flag Operation, was conducted. The briefing underscored Pakistan’s strategic preparedness to safeguard its national interests and address any potential escalation.

Earlier in the day, the National Assembly convened for a discussion on the regional security situation, with lawmakers expressing strong unity and determination in the face of India’s actions. The Pakistani leadership reiterated that the nation stands firm in its resolve to counter any Indian misadventure.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar provided additional insights into Pakistan's diplomatic response to India’s recent blocking of Pakistani digital accounts. He highlighted Pakistan's strategic countermeasure, which included broadcasting a patriotic song of Pakistan's Armed Forces on Indian YouTube channels via geotagging and purchasing advertisement airtime. Tarar emphasized that Pakistan had successfully countered India's global narrative, asserting victory both diplomatically and in the media.

"The Pakistani nation has always thwarted enemy designs," Tarar declared. "We are not aggressors, but any misadventure by the enemy will be met with a response so strong that it will be remembered for generations."

Tarar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, emphasizing that Kashmir remains "the jugular vein of Pakistan." He condemned ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), stressing that Pakistan would continue to stand by the Kashmiris in their struggle for self-determination.

Furthermore, the Information Minister reiterated Pakistan's commitment to combating terrorism, noting that the country has suffered significant losses in this war. He also revealed that Pakistan possesses credible evidence of Indian state-sponsored terrorism, including its involvement in targeted killings of Sikhs, further straining the already tense bilateral relationship.
