Pashinyan provokes Azerbaijan to launch preemptive strike – Armenian military expert
Military expert, reserve Colonel Hayk Nagapetyan has said in his interview with the Armenian media that any statement about the weapons purchased contains military confidentiality.
“Now the Armenian authorities, regardless of whether they bought weapons or not, have already signed a memorandum making the purchase of weapons a practical matter,” Nagapetyan said, Caliber.Az reports.
"This is not only an opportunity for their self-assertion and speaks of their arrogance, but also gives Azerbaijan an opportunity to say that Armenia is arming itself, that France is arming Armenia, and this is being done so that Armenia attacks Azerbaijan. Then Azerbaijan can announce that it will take preventive measures so that Armenia does not attack it, for example, as a result of these steps it will reach the outskirts of Yerevan.
Now I want to ask a question, for example, did anyone know that Armenia, being a member of the [Collective Security Treaty Organization] CSTO, had serious military-technical cooperation with NATO member states until 2018? Who knew about this? Nobody talked about it. This is how politics works.
Now these authorities, who have not yet purchased weapons, are promoting themselves, thereby giving Azerbaijan the opportunity to take certain steps the day after tomorrow.
Following this, Pashinyan also stated that Armenia does not intend to attack any neighbor. Can you imagine how the leaders of Georgia, Türkiye, Iran and Azerbaijan made fun of it at that moment? That’s why I say: one of the important beds in ward No. 6 is crying from morning till night for Nikol Pashinyan and not only for him. How can you announce something like this? You say that you will not attack anyone, what you say is taken as a basis, but you arm yourself.
What are they buying these weapons for? Or what were the armored personnel carriers bought for? Was it a primary need or to neutralize the most important enemy objectives? Closing the skies, for example, is a priority. In any conflict, the war is bound to be won by the state that has an absolute advantage in the sky.
Under the purchase of armored vehicles, perhaps I see something very bad. EU observers are in Armenia and even Russia has officially stated that they are scouts. Not tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow, those armored vehicles, which are hit even by ordinary grenade launchers, will most likely mark the appearance of peacekeepers in Armenia under a UN mandate, as desired by Pashinyan and imposed by the collective West. In parallel, the process of Russia's displacement is underway.
Apart from that, military personnel of NATO member countries arrive in Armenia under different “umbrellas”, and they must be minimally armed, for example, travel in armored vehicles. Maybe they are just for such people?” Nagapetyan noted.
