Political analyst: Russia’s note to Armenia – unfriendly country’s note

19 August 2022 11:04

Armenian political analyst David Stepanyan has said that the note of the Russian embassy in Armenia in connection with the accusations made in the press against Russian agencies due to the explosion in the Surmalu shopping centre on August 14, was sent at a very unfortunate and inconvenient time, on the first day of mourning declared in Armenia.

“This step, the reference to the note, is not a diplomatic step,” the political analyst said in an interview with journalists, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media.

“This is anti-diplomacy. We must understand that Russian diplomacy has never been perfect and this note testifies to this,” Stepanyan said.

“If we compare similar notes of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs with the note of the Russian embassy in Armenia, then ‘we will see a note of a friendly country and a note of an unfriendly country,” he added.

Stepanyan stated that the Russian embassy in Armenia is working against itself, and Russian interests.

“These people do not want to understand that the country, relations with the country are not only relations with the first person, the foreign minister or the defence minister. They must work with people, society,” the political analyst said, once again emphasising that Russia is working against itself both in Ukraine and throughout the post-Soviet area.

The political analyst added that the Russian authorities do not trust the Armenian authorities, just as they do not trust the authorities of any other country.

Stepanyan is convinced that this is the fault of Russian politics.

In this context, Stepanyan recalls the famous saying: “You reap what you sow,” and then adds: “You get, what you sow”.

“There is no country in the post-Soviet area that would like to have good relations with Russia because it is impossible,” the political analyst said.
