President Stubb affirms Finland's role in developing peace plan for Ukraine
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has confirmed that Finland will play a key role in the development of a peace plan for Ukraine, following discussions at the recent London summit.
Speaking to the media, Stubb outlined three central points on which summit participants are in agreement. The first is the urgent need to resolve the ongoing conflict, the second is the continuation of military, political, and economic support for Ukraine, and the third is the critical importance of achieving a peace agreement, Caliber.Az reports via Finnish media.
While acknowledging that Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and France are currently leading efforts to develop the peace plan, Stubb emphasised that both Norway and Finland are providing support to these countries in their endeavours. However, he refrained from revealing specific details of Finland's involvement.
The Finnish president further indicated that in the coming days, Finland and Ukraine will hold discussions to address certain aspects of the plan in greater detail, signaling ongoing collaboration between the two nations as part of the broader international effort to bring an end to the conflict.
The recent London summit, held with key international leaders, focused on addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and exploring potential pathways to peace.
The summit brought together representatives from several countries, including the United Kingdom, Ukraine, France, Finland, and Norway, to discuss strategies for ending the war and providing continued support to Ukraine. A central outcome of the summit was the agreement on the need for a comprehensive peace plan, with commitments to ongoing military, political, and economic assistance for Ukraine.
Discussions also centered on the importance of international cooperation and the role of various countries, including Finland, in supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
