Pundit: West prefers Türkiye and Azerbaijan over Armenia
Armenian political scientist Armen Baghdasaryan has said that for the West, Türkiye and Azerbaijan are more important than Armenia
“Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Russia were absent from the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. This fact served as a signal for Armenia: in the region, especially against it, Türkiye, Russia and Azerbaijan have common interests. These countries, including Iran, are strongly opposed to the presence of other parties,” Caliber.Az reports, citing political scientist Armen Baghdasaryan stated this during his interview with the Armenian media.
“This penetration of the West into our region is the main reason. If Armenia seeks peace, it must seek it within the region, with the participation of regional players, and not in partnership with the West, focused solely on its own interests.
As for ensuring the security of Armenia, I can say that this could be in the Türkiye-Russia-Iran triangle. Western sites seem attractive to us, but the documents signed there remain only on paper. If the document had been signed in the “3+3” format, it would have become a reality, despite its complexity.
The Armenian authorities are making a serious mistake by considering this path to be realistic, although the chances of success are low and the risk of encountering new aggression is high. This is a dangerous direction.
In other words, Armenia is moving in a world of illusions, ignoring real threats, and the West has neither the resources nor, in my opinion, the desire to counter these threats. For the West, Türkiye and Azerbaijan are more important than Armenia,” the political scientist said.
