Putin: Russia ready for compromise in Ukraine talks
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed Russia's willingness to engage in negotiations with Ukraine, stressing that the Kremlin is open to compromise as part of the diplomatic process.
During a year-end press conference, Putin highlighted that Russia has consistently expressed its readiness for dialogue, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"We have always said that we are ready for negotiations and compromises," he stated.
Putin also claimed that Russia has counterparts in Ukraine who are open to such discussions, adding that many Ukrainians "dream of getting rid of the neo-Nazi regime."
The Russian leader noted that Russian military forces continue to make progress on the front lines, despite facing opposition from "almost all countries of the North Atlantic Alliance."
However, he stressed that Russia would make its decisions without external interference.
"We are already less dependent on others, and we are able to stand on our own feet economically," Putin said.
Addressing the economic impact of the conflict, Putin pointed out the rising costs of military supplies in Western nations.
"Shells in the West have increased in price fourfold, and the alliance countries will not be able to allocate even 3% of their GDP to defence," he remarked.
