Qatar sees US-Iran accord as path to regional stability
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant step toward resolving regional tensions while cautioning that substantial work remains to secure a lasting settlement.
The remarks were made during a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“This is a very important deal, there’s still a lot of work to be done, but with this momentum -- if we continue like that, Mr. president -- I think we can achieve and do great things in the region," the Qatari emir said.
Doha is always ready to assist "whenever friends ask us to help," he added.
Sheikh Tamim expressed confidence that continued cooperation and diplomatic engagement could pave the way for broader progress, stating that sustained joint efforts would make it possible to “achieve outstanding results for the region and for Iran.”
The emir also underscored Qatar’s role in facilitating dialogue with Tehran, stressing that Doha’s efforts were motivated solely by the desire to bring an end to the conflict rather than by any economic considerations.
