08 January 2025 17:57

The comprehensive reconstruction of the Yenikand – Bilasuvar section (km 32 to km 103) of the M-3 Alat–Astara–Iran state border highway, which connects Azerbaijan to the Iranian border, is entering its final stages.

According to the State Agency of Azerbaijan's Automobile Roads, the works are progressing as planned, per Caliber.Az reports.

Spanning a total length of 71 kilometres, the road is being reconstructed to meet the second technical category standards. With a 15-meter-wide roadbed and a 7.5-meter carriageway, the modernized road promises to improve transportation in the region. The project has seen the completion of earthworks, the laying of roadbed, and a new asphalt concrete surface. The final phase of the work includes terrain profiling, installation of road equipment, and traffic signs.

In addition, all necessary artificial structures and drainage systems have been put in place, including round and rectangular drainage pipes of various diameters. The project also includes the completion of seven bridges, collectively spanning 338.6 meters.

The construction is being carried out in compliance with strict building standards, with the necessary workforce and equipment deployed to meet deadlines. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance travel comfort, while also easing the movement of passengers and freight along this crucial stretch of the highway..
