Rocket attacks from Lebanon spark fires in northern Israel
20 August 2024 11:45
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has stated that 55 rockets were fired into Israel from Lebanon.
Some rockets were intercepted by the air defence system, while the remaining projectiles landed in uninhabited areas, Caliber.Az reports, citing IDF.
The rocket landings caused fires in some northern regions of Israel, which are currently being addressed by firefighting and rescue services. The military added that there have been no reports of casualties.
Tensions have soared in the region in recent weeks after a Hezbollah rocket strike killed 12 children and teens in the Golan Heights last month. Israel responded with the killing of Hezbollah’s top commander, Fuad Shukr, in the suburbs of Beirut on July 30.
