Britney Spears sells music catalogue to Primary Wave in reported $200 million deal
American singer Britney Spears has sold the rights to her music catalogue to publishing company Primary Wave, which also manages the works of Bob Marley, Whitney Houston and John Lennon.
The official value of the deal has not been disclosed, but sources suggest it is worth around $200 million, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The contract was reportedly signed on December 30, with Spears said to be satisfied with the terms of what has been described as a “landmark deal”.
Primary Wave specialises in managing music rights and publishing, and has been actively acquiring the catalogues of some of the world’s leading artists.
Spears, a Grammy-winning artist, was placed under partial conservatorship in 2008 due to struggles with substance abuse, with her financial affairs managed by her father and a court-appointed lawyer. The conservatorship was officially terminated by a court ruling on 13 November 2021.
Her current estimated net worth is around $60 million.
