Russia cooperating with all parties to resolve Gaza conflict, FM says
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that the Middle East is on the threshold of a large-scale regional conflict.
He made the remarks at a meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Russia and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GCC), Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to the minister, Russia is striving to prevent its emergence and is cooperating with all interested parties.
“The inability of the world community to stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip and stop the mass deaths of its residents has led to a sharp deterioration of the military and political situation in the entire region - from the border of Lebanon and Israel to the waters of the Red Sea,” Lavrov said.
“At the same time, the confrontation between Israel and Lebanon has reached a new dangerous level. The Middle East is once again on the threshold of a major regional war. Our common responsibility is to prevent this from happening.”
“We are working to normalise the situation with all sides,” the minister said.
