Russia detains man suspected of plotting terror attack, arson in Irkutsk

Employees of Russia’s Interior Ministry, jointly with the Federal Security Service (FSB), have detained a man in the Irkutsk region suspected of preparing a terrorist attack and setting fire to an infrastructure facility.

The Ministry's spokesperson Irina Volk announced the operation on her Telegram channel, per Caliber.Az.

“In the Irkutsk region, my colleagues detained a suspect in preparing a terrorist attack and arson of an infrastructure facility. By the time the officers arrived, the perpetrator had already managed to dig a tunnel. When he noticed them, he attempted to escape into the forest. However, he was not successful,” she wrote.
