Russia's prestigious university fires member after calling to "bomb Baku" on television VIDEO
One of Russia’s most prestige educational facilities, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) has fired one of its staff members after his calls to “bomb Baku” while speaking on national TV.
Mikhail Aleksandrov has been a leading expert at the research center for military-political studies within the institute.
As Caliber.Az reports, during his appearance at the “Prav?Da!” (Right?Yes!) show on the Public Television of Russia (OTR) channel on December 16, he commented on the current situation on the Lachin-Khankendi road in Azerbaijan, where protests organized by the public and environmentalists have been going on for a week against the illegal exploitation of natural resources by the Armenian side despite the presence of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which did not stop them.
“If we bomb their oil structures, they won't be able to sell oil to the West. This will greatly increase the price of that resource", Aleksandrov suggested during his appearance.
In response to this grotesque statement, the institute took swift action and announced the redundancy of the expert, as stated on MGIMO's official website.
“Last Friday [December 16], M. Alexandrov, who was a [part-time] leading expert of the university’s research center for military-political studies, made statements detrimental to the Russian-Azerbaijani alliance on a Russian TV channel and has grossly distorted the goals and objectives of Russian policy towards a neighbouring friendly state. The groundless aggressiveness and blatant unprofessionalism of Aleksandrov’s statements caused an extremely harsh negative reaction from the foreign policy community and outrage among the MGIMO members. The image and interests of the university have been seriously damaged.
Based on the incompatibility of Alexandrov’s actions with the status of an employee of MGIMO, as well as on the established facts of extreme negligence by Alexandrov’s official duties, the rector signed an order for the employment termination and the dismissal of M. Alexandrov from the university”, the statement read.
