Russia says Ukrainian drone attack hit Tuapse refinery, sparking fire
A drone attack on the Russian Black Sea port city of Tuapse has damaged an oil refinery, port infrastructure and residential buildings, according to regional authorities.
The operational headquarters of Russia’s Krasnodar region reported that five homes were affected, along with one of the port’s piers and equipment at the Tuapse oil refinery. Two people were injured in the incident and have been taken to the hospital.
Officials said a fire broke out at the refinery, covering an area of about 300 square metres, but it was later extinguished. A separate blaze on the damaged pier was also brought under control.
In the residential areas, windows were shattered, and a gas pipe was damaged in five buildings, four of which are apartment blocks.
A total of 64 personnel and 16 pieces of equipment were deployed to deal with the aftermath, including teams from the regional branch of Russia’s emergency services ministry.
