Russia to lift restrictions on foreign currency transfers abroad
The Bank of Russia has announced that it will remove existing limits on foreign currency transfers abroad for Russian citizens and individuals from so-called “friendly countries,” effective December 8, 2025.
The Central Bank said that the decision was made due to a stable situation in the foreign exchange market, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Under the current rules, individuals are allowed to send no more than $10,000 per month—or the equivalent in other foreign currencies—through money transfer systems.
The Central Bank also stated that non-resident individuals from what Russia calls “unfriendly” countries, who are employed in the country, will continue to be permitted to transfer funds abroad up to the amount of their earned salary. This provision will remain in place until June 7, 2026.
