Russia vows tit-for-tat measures for US F-35s transfer to UK
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has said that Russia will take the necessary military-technical precautions in connection with the plans to transfer the US F-35 fighter jets, which are capable of carrying nuclear weapons, to the UK.
Grushko made these remarks on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum, Gazeta.ru reports.
The foreign ministry said that the transfer of these fighter jets is “a line of increasing military pressure on Russia”.
“While considering NATO’s activity as a whole, it is possible to see an increase in the number of exercises and their scale. New exercises will be organised in the coming months,” he noted adding that this is part of the policy of restraining Russia.
He noted that this will be taken into account in the military plans and the entire activity of the armed forces.
The information went viral in late August 2023 that the US planned to transfer its nuclear arsenal to the UK's Royal Air Force Lakenheath station.
