Russian ammunition falls near kindergarten in Belgorod region
Ammunition fell near Kindergarten No. 55 in the Kreida district of Russia’s Belgorod region on December 12, prompting a rapid evacuation of all children and staff.
Local authorities also ordered the evacuation of residents within a 300-metre radius as emergency services secured the area, Caliber.Az reports.
According to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, no casualties or injuries were reported. Specialists from the Ministry of Defence are currently assessing how to safely dispose of the unexploded ordnance.
Preliminary findings indicate the object may be a Russian aerial bomb, based on the distinctive crater at the impact site, Pepel writes.
The incident comes amid a series of similar events in the Belgorod region, where the unintended fall of Russian munitions has raised safety concerns for civilians.
On December 6, a Russian bomber accidentally released a FAB aerial bomb over a residential neighbourhood on Dalny Lane, injuring one person and temporarily cutting electricity to approximately 15,000 residents.
