Russian attack on Ternopil claims another young life
The number of victims from the Russian attack on Ternopil on November 19 has risen, following the death of a 12-year-old girl in hospital.
The city’s mayor, Serhiy Nadal, said doctors had fought for nine days to save the child’s life, Ukrainian media reports.
Her mother was killed in the attack, and her sister remains hospitalised.
The strike occurred during the night of November 19, when Russian forces launched a combined assault on Ternopil using cruise missiles and attack drones.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Kh-101 missiles were employed in the operation. Local authorities reported that high-rise residential buildings on Stusa Street and 15 Kvitka Street were hit, causing parts of a multi-story building to collapse. Rescue operations continued for three days.
The attack caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure and is considered one of the deadliest since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Ternopil declared November 19–21 as days of mourning for the victims.
Russian forces reportedly launched the strike using X-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS and Tu-160MS strategic bombers. Across Ukraine that night, Russia launched a total of 48 missiles and 476 UAVs of various types, targeting energy facilities and other critical infrastructure in multiple regions.
