Russian businesses strengthen presence across Uzbekistan’s economy
Russian companies are active across nearly all major sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy, with enterprises backed by Russian capital accounting for approximately 17% of all foreign-invested businesses in the country, according to Russia’s trade mission in Uzbekistan.
The trade mission said that as of May 1, 2026, around 3,300 enterprises with Russian capital were operating in Uzbekistan, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“As of May 1, 2026, there are approximately 3,300 enterprises with Russian capital operating in Uzbekistan. This accounts for about 17% of the total number of enterprises with foreign investment in the republic. In fact, Russian companies are currently represented in virtually all key sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy,” the trade mission stated.
According to the mission, Russian businesses maintain strong positions in traditional sectors such as industry, energy, trade, logistics, and the agro-industrial complex. Their presence has also expanded significantly in recent years in emerging and high-growth sectors, including information technology, chemicals, construction, and raw materials processing.
The trade mission attributed part of this growth to the development of joint industrial and technology projects, including technology parks in Chirchiq and Jizzakh, as well as the Navoi Industrial Development Complex.
Plans are currently being developed to establish a new technology park in the Bekabad District of the Tashkent Region.
