Russian drone attack damages homes, infrastructure in Odesa, injures five PHOTO
A nighttime Russian drone attack on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa damaged residential buildings and critical infrastructure, injuring five people, local authorities said on June 1.
According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, one drone struck a nine-story apartment building, partially destroying sections of the first and second floors and damaging the facade and balconies. A fire triggered by the impact was later brought under control by emergency services, Caliber.Az reports.
The attack also sparked fires in a two-story non-residential building and two single-story houses.
“As of 7:00 a.m., five people were injured as a result of two nighttime attacks on the city,” Lysak said in a statement posted on Telegram. Two of the injured were hospitalised, two received medical treatment at the scene, and one declined hospitalisation.
City officials reported damage to apartment buildings, an administrative building, and infrastructure facilities in several districts of Odesa.
Preliminary assessments indicate that 82 windows were shattered in the attacks, with repair crews having already replaced 72 of them. Emergency teams continue to work at affected sites to clear debris and restore damaged structures.
Authorities have established emergency response centers for residents affected by the strikes, providing information on compensation claims and assistance programs.
