Russian drone attack targets Dnipro, damaging train station, infrastructure
Russian forces launched a large-scale drone strike on Dnipro, Ukraine, causing significant damage to infrastructure, including the city's railway station, on the night of November 18.
The attack disrupted train services, resulting in delays for several passenger trains, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
According to Ukrainian railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia, the assault impacted two major trains: Train 31, traveling from Zaporizhzhia to Przemyśl, and Train 119, departing from Dnipro to Chełm. Both trains experienced delays of approximately 2.5 hours.
Passengers and crews aboard these trains, as well as on suburban service Train 6044 from Pyatykhatky to Dnipro, were sheltered inside the station during the attack and were unharmed.
The blast wave from the drone strike shattered windows on several train cars and at the railway station. In response to power outages in parts of the region, Ukrzaliznytsia deployed backup locomotives to restore service, and the company confirmed that train operations had fully resumed.
"Delays are controlled, and we will reduce them," Ukrzaliznytsia said in a statement.
In addition to the damage to the railway infrastructure, the Ukrainian media outlet Suspilne reported that their office building, along with facilities belonging to Ukrainian Radio, was also affected. The explosion caused a fire, blew out windows and doors, and left part of the building severely damaged. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
