Russian FM's sensational statement: Armenia recognised Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan
Armenia's approval of the Almaty Declaration at the quadrilateral meeting in Prague resolves the issue of the status of Karabakh without reservation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made the remarks at a press conference on December 1, Trend reports.
"The Almaty Declaration states that all the [Soviet] Union republics confirm the inviolability of borders, within the borders that existed between the republics of the USSR. In other words, at that time the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region was unequivocally part of the Azerbaijan SSR and it was approved by Azerbaijan, Armenia, France and [EU Council President Charles] Michel without any reservations. This determines the question how to approach the status of Karabakh," the Russian foreign minister said.
