Russian forces shelled nine settlements in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region over the past 24 hours, injuring two civilians and damaging homes and infrastructure, regional authorities said on May 28.
Oleh Sinehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said a 62-year-old man was injured in the settlement of Kozacha Lopan near the Russian border, Caliber.Az reports.
In the city of Izium, a 54-year-old resident suffered an acute stress reaction following the attacks. Medical workers also treated a man wounded in an earlier strike on the village of Prudyanka.
According to regional officials, Russian troops used a range of weapons in the attacks, including guided aerial bombs, Geran-2 drones, FPV drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles.
The shelling caused damage across several districts, including Kupiansk, Izium, Bohodukhiv and Chuhuiv. Residential buildings, farm structures, a vehicle, a post office, an apiary and power lines were reported damaged.
Authorities said a transit evacuation centre in the city of Lozova remains operational and received nearly 200 evacuees over the past day.
