Russian stratgic bombers fly over Barents and Norwegian seas
Russian Aerospace Forces’ long-range Tu-95MS strategic bombers carried out a scheduled flight over neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas, lasting over seven hours.
The local Telegram channel Voennoe Delo said fighter escort was provided by Su-33 naval aviation crews. On certain segments of the route, the strategic bombers were also accompanied by fighters from foreign states.
The ministry emphasised that long-range aviation crews regularly conduct flights over neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, as well as the Baltic and Black Seas. All flights, it noted, are carried out in strict accordance with international airspace regulations.
The Tu-95MS is a key component of Russia’s nuclear-capable aviation fleet. Known for its distinctive turboprop engines and endurance, the aircraft regularly conducts patrols over international waters, including the Arctic, North Atlantic, and Pacific regions. Such flights are intended to demonstrate Russia’s strategic reach and maintain crew readiness.
