Second aviation incident in days disrupts flights in Kyrgyzstan
A passenger aircraft operated by Kyrgyz carrier Asman Airlines was forced to return to Bishkek shortly after departure due to a technical issue, the state-owned Airports of Kyrgyzstan said on Thursday, July 9.
The flight had been en route to the southern city of Razzakov. Authorities confirmed that the aircraft landed safely, and no injuries were reported, as per media reports.
Following the landing, the plane was towed off the taxiway using a ground vehicle. Officials said further details would be released once the cause of the incident has been fully established.
The event marks the second aviation incident involving Kyrgyz airlines within a week. Earlier, on Tuesday, a TezJet flight operating between Bishkek and Osh encountered a malfunction in one of its rear landing gears during landing. The issue caused the aircraft to tilt onto its left wing, while aviation fuel spilled onto the runway.
Emergency crews required nearly 24 hours to clear the scene and restore normal operations at Manas International Airport, which was effectively shut down during the response. In the aftermath, TezJet’s fleet was grounded pending a comprehensive safety inspection.
