Several people injured in Ukrainian drone attack on St. Petersburg, governor says VIDEO
Several people were injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on St. Petersburg, the city's governor said on June 3, marking the first official report of casualties from the incident.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said on Telegram that multiple facilities were damaged in the attack, which targeted infrastructure sites in the Kronstadt, Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky districts, Caliber.Az reports via ASTRA.
"Several people have been injured. There are no fatalities," Beglov said, adding that emergency services were responding to the aftermath and that authorities had placed forces and resources on high alert.
Cleanup operations are underway, according to the governor, who said an emergency response headquarters had been established.
Earlier reports from the independent Russian outlet ASTRA said a fire had broken out at JSC St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, the largest oil transshipment complex in northwestern Russia, following the drone strike.
The attack occurred as St. Petersburg was preparing to host the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which opened on June 3 and is expected to draw foreign business representatives and officials.
