29 June 2022 02:33

The play will be presented for the first time on the stage of Azerbaijan’s Shusha Musical Drama Theatre after 73 years.

The performance entitled "Adventures of the Vizier of the Lankaran Khanate" based on the works by M.F. Akhundzade will be demonstrated in Mulberry Garden in liberated Shusha city on June 29, 2022, according to Report.

The event will be organised by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture.

This theatre has a long history. The State Collective Farm Theatre has launched its activity in Shusha in 1938. The theatre has been called the State Music and Drama Theatre named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov since 1943.

The theatre was closed in 1949.

The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers decided to restore the theatre's activity on May 11, 1990.

After the occupation of the city by the Armenian armed units on May 8, 1992, the theatre staff moved to Baku and was working in the building of the Young Spectator Theatre. The theatre demonstrated its first performance in Baku on February 13, 1993.

The Shusha theatre is currently operating in Baku at the Savalan cinema.
