Six European power plants to provide equipment for Ukraine’s energy facilities photo
Ukraine has secured agreements to receive equipment from six decommissioned European combined heat and power (CHP) plants and thermal power stations to support the operation of its domestic energy facilities.
Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the development on February 20 via his Telegram channel, summarising the outcomes of the Ukrainian delegation’s participation in a meeting of the International Energy Agency.
According to Shmyhal, Ukraine finalised arrangements with Latvia, Austria, Finland, Croatia, France, and Germany concerning both the supply and rapid delivery of the equipment. The transferred systems — originating from no fewer than six decommissioned CHP and thermal power plants — are expected to be installed at Ukrainian energy stations in the shortest possible timeframe.
The minister also reported that the partners agreed to allocate more than €250 million in contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. In addition, Ukraine signed a roadmap with France focused on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy and concluded a memorandum of understanding with Canada aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
