Six Ukrainian drones target Moscow, authorities urge caution
Moscow’s air defence forces intercepted and destroyed six Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attempting to strike the city overnight, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported on his messaging platform, Max. Emergency services are currently working at locations where drone debris fell.
The incident follows warnings issued in Russia’s North Caucasus regions, where authorities have declared a heightened threat of UAV attacks. In Kabardino-Balkaria, Head Kazbek Kokov advised residents and visitors to stay alert to official announcements, avoid approaching drone debris, and refrain from filming air defence operations.
“If you witness the operation of air defence systems aimed at suppressing or destroying UAVs, do not take photos or videos and do not post them online,” Kokov said in a Telegram post. A similar warning was issued by Sergey Menyaylo, head of North Ossetia, highlighting ongoing security concerns across the region.
In response to the threat, several Russian airports—including Volgograd, Saratov, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, and Cherepovets—have introduced temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures, Rosaviatsia, the Federal Air Transport Agency, announced.
