SOCAR explores Azerbaijani gas export opportunities to Bulgaria PHOTO
Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), recently held discussions with Bulgarian Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov.
The talks centred on the export of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, SOCAR told Caliber.Az.
They highlighted the growing energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria, underscoring the significance of the Southern Gas Corridor in ensuring energy security for Europe, with a particular focus on Bulgaria.
The meeting also involved an exchange of views on the current status of energy sector collaboration and other mutual interests.
Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have been developing their energy cooperation, particularly in the field of natural gas, over recent years.
Azerbaijan's participation in the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) plays a crucial role in supplying natural gas to Europe, including Bulgaria. The SGC is a major infrastructure project aimed at diversifying Europe's gas supply and reducing its dependence on Russian gas.
Both countries have been involved in developing infrastructure to facilitate the transport and distribution of natural gas. This includes pipelines and interconnectors that link Azerbaijan's gas fields to Bulgaria and onward to other European markets.
