Sony stops reporting PlayStation 4 sales figures
PlayStation 4 lifecycle ends as Sony stops reporting sales figures
This decision was taken as a signal of the end of the life cycle of the last generation console, according to the Tweak Town portal.
So, instead of data on the number of sold units of PS4 consoles, the Sony report only mentions the PlayStation 5. In every financial report of the company from 2014 to 2021, there was a section dedicated to the supply of PS4 consoles. This is interpreted as Sony preparing for the end of the life cycle of the PlayStation 4. Separately, it is noted that Sony sold only 1 million PS4 units for the entire last year.
Thus, PlayStation sales officially exceeded 117 million units.
In the fiscal year 2022, Sony plans to release more PS5 consoles than ever before in the history of the PlayStation - the Japanese company intends to ship 18 million current-gen game consoles.
