State Department: US continues active engagement for Azerbaijan-Armenia peace deal
Matthew Miller, the Press Chief of the State Department, has said that the United States continues to actively engage with both nations, reiterating its commitment to fostering lasting peace in the region.
“In every engagement with the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan are to include – are to encourage them to work to bridge the differences that – between the two countries and reach a durable and lasting peace agreement,” Miller said during a regular press briefing, Caliber.Az reports.
To recap, the recent visit of Louis Bono, the Senior Adviser for South Caucasus Negotiations at the US State Department, to Azerbaijan further highlighted the United States' involvement in the peace process. During his visit on March 18, Bono engaged in discussions with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, focusing on various facets of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as the current regional dynamics.
According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the meeting delved into the agenda and prospects of cooperation between Baku and Washington, alongside addressing the evolving situation in the region and aspects of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Minister Bayramov provided insights into the outcomes of negotiations conducted within the framework of the Munich and Berlin Security Conference, shedding light on Azerbaijan's expectations within the peace process. Additionally, he elucidated Baku's stance on pertinent issues within the negotiation process that remain unresolved.
