Sweden's nuclear dilemma

The head of the Swedish Ministry of Defense Pål Jonson opposed the adoption of a law banning the deployment of nuclear weapons in the country.

In turn, the Green Party represented by Emma Berginger, a deputy of the Riksdag on military-political issues, believes that the ban on deployment will allow to secure the country, SVT TV channel reports.

According to Berginger, the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons in Sweden will allow to secure the country and prevent a possible attack, because "they (nuclear weapons) can become a target for attacks."

In turn, Defense Minister Pål Jonson said he did not see the need to pass this law, as none of Sweden's allies have declared their intention to deploy nuclear weapons on the country's territory. "Our line is well known, it enjoys support. Norway and Denmark also have no legislation in this area," the minister said.
