Sweden supports Ukraine with $441-million military package
The Swedish government has unveiled a new military aid package for Ukraine valued at 4.6 billion Swedish krona ($441 million).
This package is designed to meet Ukraine's most urgent military needs and enhance future operational capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Swedish government.
The 17th aid package marks a shift in Sweden’s approach to military support, with increased focus on direct procurement rather than just donations. It includes three major contracts for purchasing priority equipment totaling around 600 million Swedish krona ($57 million).
The assistance comprises tank ammunition, camouflage for the Pansarbandvagn 302 tracked armoured personnel carriers, UAV systems, and winter clothing. Additionally, Sweden will supply six Stridsbåt 90 amphibious assault boats, Robot 70 portable air defence systems, and protective masks and equipment. The package also includes approximately 700 million Swedish krona ($67.48 million) in financial aid. Sweden has allocated a total of 48 billion Swedish krona ($4.63 billion) for military purposes in Ukraine, with a total of 75 billion Swedish krona ($7.23 billion) planned for 2024-2026.
