Syrian Army reports deadly clashes with Qasad, PKK militants west of Euphrates video
The Syrian Arab Army has announced a new series of clashes with militants from the “Qasad” formation and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK, designated as a terrorist organisation) in areas located west of the Euphrates River.
According to Syrian media, Qasad fighters violated previously reached agreements and opened fire on a Syrian army patrol near the city of Maskana. The attack resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and left several others wounded. Before retreating, the militants set ablaze the traffic police headquarters in Maskana.
In Raqqa Province, Syrian forces have taken control of the settlement of Dibsi-Afnan. However, PKK militants continue to deploy in nearby villages and have been firing on Syrian army units, hindering the implementation of the existing agreements.
The Ministry of Defence also reported that Qasad militants carried out attacks on journalists from the SANA news agency and on military media personnel from the Ministry of Defence near the settlement of Dibsi-Afnan in the rural part of Raqqa Province.
The Syrian army emphasised that it intends to continue extending control over the areas west of the Euphrates and will respond to any assaults on its troops.
In addition, the entire area west of the Euphrates River has been declared a closed military zone after PKK terrorist elements attacked army forces during the execution of the agreement.
