Theft, robbery among top charges against juvenile offenders in Georgia
A total of 336 teenagers aged between 14 and 17 were detained in Georgia for various crimes between January and May 2026, according to the country’s National Statistics Service.
The agency’s data show that around 40% of the detained minors were recorded in Tbilisi. The Autonomous Republic of Adjara ranked second in the number of juvenile offenders, followed by the Imereti region, Sputnik Georgia reports.
The most common charges against the teenagers were theft, robbery, and participation in group violence. Other offenses included threats, causing bodily harm, and drug-related crimes.
Between January 1 and June 1, 2026, a total of 408 minors under the age of 18 were officially recognized as victims of various crimes in Georgia.
Most of those victims were affected by domestic violence and physical assault.
