Time for Armenians to throw off Russian yoke, expert says
Political analyst Garegin Miskaryan confidently asserts that Armenia has been under the yoke of Russian influence for over two centuries, serving as a means for strengthening and preserving Russia's power in Transcaucasia.
He firmly believes that the time has come for the Armenian people to throw off this yoke and assert their sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenia media.
Miskaryan made these remarks in an interview with Armenian media while responding to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's accusations of the Armenian leadership deliberately destroying the relationship between Russia and Armenia.
He further added that the Kremlin is upset about losing its grip on the South Caucasus, and Armenia's steps towards sovereignty have only aggravated the situation.
