Former Armenian ombudsman aims for power with new “Wings of Unity” movement
Former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan has announced the creation of a new political initiative called “Wings of Unity,” which will take part in the upcoming 2026 parliamentary elections, Armenian media reported, according to Caliber.Az.
“I can no longer remain merely a professional observer of political life when it is not serving Armenia’s interests. I will focus my efforts — and those of my team — on advancing the interests of our country and people,” Tatoyan said in a statement.
According to Hraparak newspaper, former Civil Contract MP Anna Karapetyan has joined the Wings of Unity initiative. The group’s core reportedly includes former staff members of the Ombudsman’s Office, as well as the ex-head of the State Revenue Committee, David Ananyan.
The publication adds that Karapetyan previously served as chief of staff to then–Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in 2018, later becoming an MP from the My Step bloc. However, she was not included in the party’s candidate list during the 2021 elections.
