Top diplomat: Peace would strengthen sovereignty of Armenia, Azerbaijan
On November 5, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan would allow both nations to strengthen their sovereignty and reduce external influence.
Mirzoyan argued that conflicts tend to create opportunities for third countries to advance their own interests and extend influence over the parties involved, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“Any conflict provides fertile ground for third countries to pursue their interests and increase their sway over the conflicting sides,” he said at a conference organised by the Orbeli analytical centre under the title “Quiz on Peace: A Conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia”.
Mirzoyan added that while no country is entirely independent, as all are interconnected through trade and other forms of cooperation, such links are essential for national development.
