Trump hints at imminent Gaza deal after issuing "last warning" to Hamas

08 September 2025 09:36

On September 7, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that a potential deal could be reached to secure the release of all hostages held by Hamas, following an earlier warning he described as his "last warning" to the Palestinian militant group.

Speaking to reporters after returning to the Washington area from a brief trip to New York, Trump said he had been discussing the matter during his flight, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

"We're working on a solution that may be very good," he said, declining to provide further details. "You'll be hearing about it pretty soon. We're trying to get it ended, get the hostages back."

Earlier on the same day, Trump urged Hamas to accept his terms for an agreement, without specifying them.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, he said: "The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!"

Hamas subsequently confirmed it had received proposals from the United States via mediators and was discussing potential ways to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.

The group did not provide specifics but reiterated its readiness to negotiate the release of all hostages in exchange for a "clear announcement of an end to the war" and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave.

Trump expressed confidence that all hostages would be returned. "I think we're going to get them all," he said, noting that some may have already died but that the goal would be to recover their bodies.

According to Israeli media reports, Trump has presented a new ceasefire plan to Hamas, which would see the release of the remaining 48 hostages on the first day of a truce in return for the freeing of thousands of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel and negotiations toward ending the conflict.

An Israeli official stated that the proposal was being "seriously considered," without providing further details.
