Trump: New bonds of friendship, cooperation to join Armenia to Azerbaijan
On October 13, US President Donald Trump said that new bonds of friendship, cooperation and commerce would link countries long divided by conflict, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, as part of his broader vision for regional peace and connectivity.
“So now we’re going to forge a future that is worthy of our heritage. We’re going to build a legacy that all the people of this region can be proud of,” Caliber.Az quotes the US president as saying.
Speaking before Israel’s parliament in Jerusalem, Trump outlined what he described as a historic opportunity to reshape the Middle East and its neighbouring regions through diplomacy and economic partnership.
“New bonds of friendship, cooperation and commerce will join Tel Aviv to Dubai, Haifa to Beirut, Jerusalem to Damascus and from Israel to Egypt, from Saudi Arabia to Qatar, from India to Pakistan, from Indonesia to Iraq, from Syria to Bahrain, Türkiye to Jordan, the United Arab Emirates to Oman and Armenia to Azerbaijan,” he emphasized.
The president’s hour-long speech often deviated from the prepared remarks, including a remarkable moment where the president called on Israel’s President Isaac Herzog for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to receive a pardon amid ongoing legal troubles.
Trump is running several hours behind his published schedule and is next expected to head to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, where leaders from more than 20 countries will join a summit on Gaza’s future.
