Trump warns Iran: “All hell will rain down” over nuclear weapons ambitions
U.S. President Donald Trump said during a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, that Washington is not making any commitments regarding investment in Iran under the memorandum with the Islamic Republic.
Continuing his remarks, Trump rejected suggestions that the U.S. would invest in Iran, describing such claims as unfounded, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“The U.S. would not be ‘investing any money in Iran’, calling such claims a ‘ridiculous’ rumour.”
He described the agreement reached with Iran as “fair” and “good,” and said the process was moving into a second phase of implementation. According to Trump, this next stage would be easier than the first and is expected to proceed successfully.
Speaking in France during the G7 summit, Trump said he expects negotiations on the second phase of the deal to proceed more smoothly.
He also stressed that the U.S. could secure Iran’s nuclear materials, while Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
“The only thing that really matters to me is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and it says it loud and clear,” he told reporters at the G7 summit in France.
He further warned of severe consequences if Tehran pursued nuclear arms:
“All hell will rain down” on Iran if the Islamic Republic intends to acquire a nuclear weapon, Trump added.
Addressing regional security issues, Trump said that in the event of an Israeli attack on Lebanon, the agreement with Iran could still remain in place. He described the situation in Lebanon as a “minor war” and suggested an unconventional approach to the conflict involving Syria: “suggested to Israel to let Syria take care of Hezbollah because … they’d do a better job”.
