Trump welcomes Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan’s Mecca defence pact
US President Donald Trump described the joint defence agreement signed by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in Mecca as an “important first step.”
“Very happy to see that Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have recently, and finally, signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement. It shows how the Middle East is coming together, and how Countries will finally be able to defend themselves in a more meaningful way,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The US president congratulated the leaders of the three countries and described the signing of the agreement as a bold and important first step.
Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed the Mecca Agreement on August 7. The document provides for the principle of collective defence and is also intended to expand military cooperation among the three countries.
