Turkish FM to visit Tehran for high-level talks
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Tehran today, November 30, for a series of high-level meetings with the Iranian leadership.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghai, stated that Fidan will meet with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other senior officials, Tasnim reports.
During the talks, the sides are expected to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and international issues.
Citing Turkish diplomatic sources, the agency reported that special attention will be given to the activities of the High-Level Cooperation Council and preparations for its ninth meeting. Strengthening cooperation in the areas of security and counterterrorism is also planned.
Officials are expected to address measures to accelerate border trade infrastructure and increase bilateral trade from the current $6.5 billion to $30 billion.
The agency also noted that Fidan will exchange views with Iranian authorities on regional stability, including the situations in Gaza and Syria and Israel’s actions. The agenda will also cover the peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear program.
Additionally, discussions are expected on the Russia-Ukraine war, developments in the South Caucasus, and efforts to reduce tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
