Turkish FM warns “Israeli expansion” threatens regional stability
Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that “Israeli expansion” is one of the main threats to stability in the region and called for an immediate end to violence in the Gaza Strip.
At a joint press conference in Doha with his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Fidan said the expansion policy in Gaza, Beirut, the West Bank, and Syria have resulted in casualties and mass displacement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Fidan noted that developments in the Gulf should not overshadow the situation in Gaza.
The Turkish foreign minister stressed that violations of the Gaza ceasefire have “reached their peak” and urged the international community to respond more actively to the situation.
According to him, Qatar also joins this call, and they together expressed support for efforts to ensure the security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
He emphasised its importance for global trade and energy security, and the need to prevent its use as a tool of pressure.
Qatari FM said Doha and Ankara support mediation efforts by Pakistan aimed at ending the conflict and restoring normal shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
He also accused Israel of continuing ceasefire violations in Gaza and of using humanitarian aid as a “tool of pressure.”
