According to diplomatic sources, Fidan will express Ankara’s satisfaction with the current trajectory of comprehensive cooperation between Türkiye and Serbia. He is also expected to reaffirm Türkiye’s strong support for peace and stability in the Balkans, and emphasise the importance of deepening bilateral ties within this framework.
The Turkish minister will highlight the need for resolving the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina through common sense and open dialogue, underscoring the importance of regional unity.
In his meetings, Fidan will call for a shared sense of regional responsibility in confronting common challenges and stress the need to prioritise solidarity and cooperation across the Balkans.
Notably, Türkiye and Serbia have steadily strengthened their bilateral relations in recent years, with growing cooperation in trade, infrastructure, defence, and energy. The two countries maintain a strategic dialogue mechanism and have signed numerous agreements aimed at deepening economic and political ties.
Ankara views Belgrade as a key partner in the Balkans—a region where Türkiye has sought to play a constructive role by promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and regional integration.
Türkiye has also positioned itself as a mediator in regional disputes, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where tensions among the country’s ethnic communities periodically flare. As a co-guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, Türkiye has consistently called for preserving the territorial integrity of Bosnia and for maintaining open communication among all stakeholders.
