Türkiye seizes nearly 3,000 weapons in Operation Mercek-25 VIDEO
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has written that Türkiye carried out operations targeting arms smuggling and the illegal possession of weapons.
"During Operation Mercek-25, conducted over the past five days across 81 provinces, a total of 2,738 weapons were seized from arms traffickers and individuals possessing unlicensed firearms. Measures were taken against 2,459 suspects," Caliber.Az reports, citing the minister’s message on X.

Earlier, as a result of the extensive Operation Mercek-23, conducted across 81 provinces in Türkiye over five days, thousands of illegally held firearms were confiscated. A total of 2,269 weapons, including 1,289 pistols, 32 shotguns, and other firearms, were seized. The biggest quantity of illegal weapons was found in Istanbul. In total, 127 individuals were detained during the operation.
