Turkish MP: China-US rivalry getting intensified
Mevlut Çavuşoğlu, head of the Turkish parliamentary delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, has said that China is increasing its global influence, while the US is introducing new rules.
Russia's activities inside the country and in the region are currently affecting Europe's security, Çavuşoğlu said, addressing the XII Global Baku Forum on March 13, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“It is difficult to give an unambiguous definition of the current international system. I believe that the order formed after World War II has not been fully completed yet,” Çavuşoğlu noted.
Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the coming period will see not so much Russian-American but Chinese-American rivalry.
Talking about aid to Syria, Çavuşoğlu said Türkiye provides all-round support to prevent the collapse of the transitional government in Syria.
He expressed optimism about the future of Syria, while pointing to the need to be cautious.
According to Çavuşoğlu, about 60 percent of the world's crises occur in Türkiye's immediate vicinity, but the global system is failing to deal with them.
“Therefore, Ankara makes every effort to resolve conflicts. For example, we have repeatedly taken the initiative to organize a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine in Ankara, but there has not been enough support from the West,” he said.
Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan plays a key role in regional politics, maintaining ties with everyone.
