Turkish Navy to bolster defences with cutting-edge marine drones Photo
Türkiye's Navy is set to receive its first armed marine drones, the ULAQ 12 ASuW and ULAQ KAMA, in the first quarter of this year.
These cutting-edge unmanned vessels are part of a broader initiative to enhance Türkiye's naval capabilities, with the new models designed for various tactical operations, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
The ULAQ 12 ASuW, a 12-metre drone, has been developed for anti-submarine warfare and is equipped with a remotely operated 12.7mm calibre combat module, along with a tactical missile system by ROKETSAN.
This system is capable of launching laser-guided missiles, marking a significant leap forward in precision strike capabilities. After successful initial tests, the drone will be handed over to Türkiye's Naval Forces following its second round of trials.
Another notable addition to the ULAQ family is the ULAQ KAMA, a single-use (kamikaze) drone. This 6.5-metre vessel carries a 200kg explosive payload and has been designed to maintain stability even when hit by bullets.
The KAMA drone is developed by Türkiye's Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) and will join the Turkish Navy’s arsenal this year.
