Türkiye announces bid for COP31 hosting As COP29 nears in Baku
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Cahit Bagci, has announced Türkiye's candidacy to host COP31 while emphasizing the significance of the upcoming COP29 in Baku.
Speaking at an event titled “Business Challenges of Global Climate Change” which is dedicated to COP29 and the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”, Bagci highlighted the global attention that Baku will receive in November, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Bagci underscored that COP29 is of great importance to Azerbaijan and will feature numerous conferences, discussions, meetings, and panels focused on climate change issues.
"The world's attention will be on Baku in November," the ambassador stated.
In addition to participating actively in COP29, Bagci revealed that Türkiye has formally put forward its bid to host COP31. He affirmed Türkiye 's commitment to contributing significantly to climate action and international climate negotiations, showcasing the country's ongoing dedication to addressing global environmental challenges.
